Knock-knock...

Jokes, humor, laughter, pranks... we love it all at the BAC! And National Tell a Joke Day was certainly no exception!

Why do hummingbirds hum? Because they don’t know the words! 😂🤣😂

You can inject humor into your daily routines by reading silly stories 📚, singing comical songs 🎵, playing dress-up alongside your children 👑, and celebrating special days (like “Crazy Hair Day”) - just because! As parents, teachers, and therapists (and just as human beings!), let’s take time to live in the present moment and connect with our children through a genuine smile, contagious giggle, or heartfelt belly laugh. ⁣

Our speech-language pathologists (SLPs) also know that jokes are serious business! It’s important for children to understand and use humor in order to navigate social situations and make friends. ⁣

Telling jokes helps children build their vocabulary, understand idioms and multiple-meaning words, and practice engaging in the natural back-and-forth (“reciprocal”) rhythms of a conversation. ⁣

What’s your go-to joke? 😂🤣😂We love this knock-knock joke - LETTUCE IN!🥗

What made you laugh today? 😊
